About the Authors:
Dale M. Kushner, M
Dale M. Kushner is a novelist, poet, and essayist. Her debut novel, The Conditions of Love, published by Grand Central, was nominated for the Texas Library Association Award for Outstanding Adult Fiction. M is Ms. Kushner’s new collection of poetry. Her study of Jungian psychology and dreamwork informs Transcending the Past, her popular monthly online column for Psychology Today. She has been recently honored by the Pushcart Prize 2024 for special mention in poetry. Her short fiction has also been nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
Kushner’s widely regarded writings on the divine feminine, depth psychology, and intergenerational trauma are published in anthologies and collected works, including Strange Attractors: Lives Changed by Chance, University of Massachusetts Press; Jung’s Red Book for Our Time: Searching for Soul Under Postmodern Conditions, Volume 4 (2020) edited by Murray Stein and Thomas Arzt; Jewish Currents; and elsewhere. She has recently been filmed for a documentary called Between Two Worlds that is now in production. Dale M. Kushner’s interview with neuroscientist Daniela Schiller about memory and trauma is featured in the documentary See Memory, seen on public television stations in 2025.
Laura Roybal, The Patriarch: Devlin Matthew Lachlan
Laura Roybal has a B.A. in English and history from New Mexico Highlands University and an M.A. in theology from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio. Her first novel (Billy, Houghton Mifflin, 1994) won the Southwest Book Award and was on the American Library Association’s List of Books for Reluctant Readers. Two other books, Dear Bobby (self-published) and Blood Brothers (All About Kids Publishing, 2015) are also young adult novels. Besides writing, she is the office manager for her husband’s contracting business and has three children, sixteen grandchildren, and two “honorary” grandchildren. She lives on a small ranch in the Sangre de Christo Mountains north of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
John Self, Santa Fe Compendium
John Self lives in Santa Fe with his wife, Debra, and Chili, the cat. He has an insatiable appetite for trivia, history, travel, and Santa Fe. He has over 16 years of restaurant management and ownership experience, plus a comedy club. Later he went back to school to become a university professor and is now a professor emeritus from Cal Poly Pomona. He has taught internationally in China and was a Fulbright Scholar in Helsinki, Finland.
